The flavours of Santiago de Cuba dance on the top of your tongue, just like a Cuban salsa. Toffee, cacao, vanilla, coffee, honey, spice, and tropical fruits are combined together in a perfect balance. |
With its sophisticated flavours this rum deserves special occasions, but because of its affordable price, it’s also a great mainstay for your home bar. The rum is old enough to have great influence from the oak, and young enough to keep the original fruity flavours from the Cuban molasses. Because of this, you can enjoy it neat, in complex cocktails or in simple classics like a Daiquiri. |
This rum is a great introduction to Cuban rum. The notes of cacao, vanilla and honey mixed with tropical fruit and spice make it very easy for newcomers, but also sophisticated enough for seasoned rum lovers to enjoy it. You can savour the flavours neat or transfer them into a beautiful cocktail. |
How to Drink
This rum is very versatile. With 8 years of tropical ageing and sophisticated flavours, you can serve it neat or with a few ice cubes. The natural sweetness, cacao, vanilla, spice and tropical fruits work perfectly in Cuban classics like the Daiquiri, Mulata, El Presidente, Hotel National or a Merry Pickford. |
If you really want to feel the refined flavours of this rum, you must taste it neat as the tasting notes are very elegant and delicate and can get lost in a cocktail if you’re not careful. When experimenting with it in cocktails, don’t use too many ingredients or too much ice - it works well in stirred drinks, or when shaken and strained without ice. Try it in simple classic cocktails like a Mojito or Rum Sour, with cubed or crushed ice. |
For straight-up drinking, a Rocks glass works perfectly and for most cocktails, a Coupe or Martini glass. |
The flavours of this rum work perfectly with chocolate and desserts when it’s served straight up. |
